Solid Steel Radio Show 3/7/2015 Hour 1 - Jimpster Solid Steel in association with Serato (3rd July) We welcome back Jimpster who was a guest back in 2000 and you can hear that mix in the featured section at SolidSteel.net. He cofounded the Freerange label and more recently Delusions of Grandeur, which saw the release of the excellent track 'Walk' by recent guests Dan Shake and Medlar. Jimpster also has numerous remixes under his belt for the likes of John Beltran, Osunlade, Switch and Coldcut! His new EP English Rose is out next week and he told us; 'It was 15 years ago that I made my last mix for the brilliant Solid Steel show. Time flies but surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly) my taste in music hasn't actually changed a great deal in all those years. I'm still constantly discovering and inspired by old jazz, library music, modern soul and of course deep house and I always like to try and include a cross section of favourites, both old and new, in my mixes. Hopefully there will be a few things people don't know (well, there definitely will be cos I've included one track from the forthcoming Toby Tobias LP which nobody has heard yet) but also some familiar classics such as Kenny Larkin's Tedra and Doug Carn's Revelation. And the Ninja boys didn't stipulate that I had to include at least one Ninja release either! I absolutely love all Seven Davis Jr's productions and this new remix is fire so had to go on there! Hope you enjoy and hopefully it won't be 15 more years until my next Solid Steel guest mix!
